Pray for Vocations

image

Beginning October 2025, each parish of the Byzantine Catholic Metropolitan Church will receive a special pilgrim vocations icon to travel among parish households. Accompanied by prayer books and Harvest Helpers materials, this initiative invites families to pray for vocations and reflect on God’s call to serve.

We’re also excited to announce the launch a new vocations website, a central hub for resources, prayers, and support for those discerning a call to the priesthood, diaconate, or monastic life.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Your prayers for vocations are significant in helping men and women
hear God's call in their lives.

This booklet is designed to help the Church pray for vocations. It
includes special petitions for use during the liturgy as well as rituals
for the presenting and receiving of the Pilgrim Vocation Icon. An
order of prayer for use in the home and additional scriptural passages
and prayers to assist in reflecting on the importance of encouraging
people
to respond to God's call to service in the Church are also
included.

The seeds of God's grace are planted in our hearts hoping to find
fertile fields
that will bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Fasting and
prayer enable us to make room for the Lord in our lives by cultivating
softened
and fertile hearts ready to receive the Master. God has
chosen each
of us for specific works in his vineyard. Prayers for and
with our brothers and sisters in Christ enable us to hear God's call
more clearly and to respond eagerly, courageously, sacrificially,
authentically, and humbly to what He has set in place for us.
Therefore, each of us ought to feel personally responsible for fostering
future leaders
of the Church. In particular, we pray for an increase of
vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and monastic life. We also
pray for those who are discerning these calls and for those who are in
formation.

This will be a very special time for you as you meditate and pray
before the Vocation
Icon. May God bless you and your prayers as you
ask that He send laborers to his Vineyard.
